These people are just barbarians

"We have carried out the sentence of God against 12 Nepalis who came from their country to fight the Muslims and to serve the Jews and the Christians...believing in Buddha as their God," said the statement by the military committee of the Army of Ansar al-Sunna.

The group posted a series of photographs showing the killing as well as a video.

The recording showed two masked men, one in camouflage, holding down a hostage. One of the men then used a knife to behead the hostage and then hold his head aloft.

The video then showed a group of hostages lying face down and being shot by a man using an automatic rifle. It then showed bodies splattered with blood and bullet wounds.

Religion of Hanging

Atefeh Rajabi appears to have been a fairly normal 16-year-old: sulky, disobedient, and eager to have sex. In London, those attributes earn lectures from parents and teachers on the importance of acting responsibly and not being offensive. In the city of Neka in Iran, where Atefeh Rajabi comes from, they get you hauled up in front of a judge.

Atefeh's typical teenage behaviour meant that she was charged and found guilty of "acts incompatible with chastity". The judge in the Islamic court ruled that the appropriate penalty was death. That's right: death. Her sentence was confirmed by Iran's Supreme Court.

Two weeks ago, on August 15, the 16-year-old girl was hung from a crane in the main square of Neka, in full public view, in order to keep "society safe from acts against public morality".

2 Arrested in Alleged NYC Subway Bomb Plot

The men also scouted three police stations on Staten Island and a jail there, Kelly said. They drew maps of those sites and a map of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, which connects Brooklyn to Staten Island, he said.

"Their motive was generally hatred for America," Kelly said. He said one of the men had also made anti-Semitic statements.

If they hate it so much why don't they get the hell out and go live in Saudi Arabia or something?

This is horrible

Ahmad Riyaz Khan, aged 23 of Mangere, is accused of murder by setting fire to his former girlfriend Gulshad Banu Hussein at the Shell service station in Atkinson Ave, Otahuhu, in August last year after she said she did not want anything more to do with him.

Pray for it to be over

Next week is going to be a nightmare getting around NYC.

A judge told protesters yesterday they can't rally in Central Park on the eve of the Republican National Convention - but activists vowed to descend on the park anyway.

What part of no don't they understand?

Gold!

VERONICA CAMPBELL, for long the heir apparent, was crowned Jamaica's new sprint queen at the Athens Olympic Stadium last night.

In a majestic performance before a packed stadium, Campbell, a native of Trelawny, became the second Jamaican woman to win an Olympic gold medal when she captured the 200 metres in the Greek capital.

Campbell, 22, destroyed her rivals around the curve to post her best ever time on the world's biggest sports stage. It puts her on the same page as Deon Hemmings, who became the first Jamaican woman to win Olympic gold when she won the 400m hurdles eight years ago in Atlanta.

A Disaster Waiting to Happen

via LGF

Ten days before the Olympic Games start in Athens, passes allowing vehicles into several venues, including the Olympic village, have been stolen.

A security source told the Telegraph that the passes were taken from the windscreens of unattended official vehicles.

Police are checking passports to enhance security
"Some people left the doors of their cars unlocked and the thieves just came in and took the accreditations," he said.

Return from vacation

Now, with the news yesterday that put America on orange alert (and New York on heightened alert), we've been forced to return from our vacation earlier than we would have liked.

We've taken a trip not in space, but in time: We had traveled back to Sept. 10 and the days and years before the terrorists attacked us.

During our vacation, American political junkies and politically engaged people in the West fell back into the comforting old habit of imagining that the only things that matter are the things American politicians do.

Everyone on the Left — from soft liberals to Michael Moore — seemed to have decided that the problems faced by the United States were primarily or even solely the fault of George W. Bush.

Back to Reality

Blueprints for terror

They're studying our weaknesses.

What is clear from the find, investigators say, is that Al Qaeda continues to study ways to hit U.S. corporate interests with the goal of hurting the American economy - a goal urged often by terror mastermind Osama Bin Laden in his past anti-U.S. screeds.

Nothing has been ignored, with details - as meticulous as the type of uniforms worn by building guards and whether they carry guns - carefully noted, senior intelligence officials said.

In their zeal to bring down buildings, they've factored in belowground parking lot architecture and even noted the degree of a garage entrance incline.

The intelligence officials said some of the surveillance pre-dates the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks that took down the twin towers and damaged the Pentagon.

There must be terrorist cells in this country that are providing this level of detailed information. I hope the FBI is focusing on the fifth column here.

Holland Tunnel Closed To Inbound Truck Traffic

As a result of the terror warning, the Holland Tunnel between New Jersey and New York was closed to commercial traffic this morning. Commercial traffic has been diverted to the GW Bridge and the Lincoln Tunnel. There is no date set for when this ban will end. Can you say traffic nightmare? The GW Bridge is a horror to begin with. I hate terrorists.

Threat Level Raised in New York, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.

Today, Tom Ridge raised the threat level to orange in New York, New Jersey and Washington, D.C. Al Qaeda has a plan to attack financial institutions with truck or car bombs.

Mayor Bloomberg was just on Fox saying that the Williamsburg Bridge would be closed to trucks tomorrow morning. All trucks will be diverted to the Manhattan Bridge. I can just imaging the chaos in rush hour tomorrow.

This really sucks, I have to go downtown tomorrow morning. Since 9/11 I’m really nervous going through Grand Central Station and being on the subway. I’m not looking forward to it.

Terror Threat Against Financial Buildings

Here we go again

They really have it in for New York.

The New York Police Department, responding to new information that terrorists may be planning to attack corporations or large public institutions in the city, last night advised building managers and corporate security personnel to step up their procedures to guard against vehicles rigged with explosives and against chemical agents placed in ventilation systems.

Dead Heat

THE JAMAICA Labour Party (JLP) has recorded a two per cent lead in popular support over the governing People's National Party (PNP). But, with a plus or minus three per cent margin of error in the latest Gleaner-commissioned Don Anderson poll, the JLP and PNP have registered a virtual dead-heat.
